The FAMCO J Style Roof Vent is not designed to be used with a forced air exhaust and is for static ventilation. I recommend going with our RDP Rooftop Exhaust Vent with Damper and Bottom Extension. This would work for forced air exhausts.
Yes, the FAMCO J Style Roof Vent would work on a flat roof, typically you want to use a vent with a higher clearance on a flat roof. We have this vent with a larger 6 inch clearance available here.
The FAMCO J Style Roof Vent was specifically designed for use on shingle roofs.
