Composite Tile
Spanish, Mission and Roman style composite tiles undoubtedly boast a unique look on any roof. Roman style roof tiles are also called imbrex and tegula tiles, which are overlapping roof tiles that have been used as far back as ancient Greece and Rome. The tegula is a flat tile with raised edges, and the imbrex is a half-cylinder-shaped tile that covers the seams.
Mission style roof tiles, also called barrel tiles, are also a semi-cylindrical shape. They are laid in alternating rows of convex and concave tiles, and form a ripple shape on the roof.
RoofingDirect.com offers synthetic versions of these shingles, which were historically made from clay. Composite tiles are far more durable than natural materials, and are much easier to transport and install.
