Founder Villum Kann Rasmussen knew that he wanted to have his own company but didn’t have a clear goal in mind for the product he wanted to produce. The war rationing of raw materials of 1941 changed all of that. Forced to do more with less, he set out to invent a product that would provide homes with extra light during the daytime. He ended up crafting an innovative roof window in a manner never before seen. It was just as good if not better than your average vertical window and was built with solid wood framing, zinc cladding, and condensation drains to avoid dripping. It was a huge success! From 1941 to the present day, Villum expanded his company and his patents (over 50 of them!) to a globe-spanning empire, until his passing in 1993. Today, his company is still going strong and still innovating and bringing high quality skylights and roof windows to people all over the world. A Passion For Bringing Light To The People.
